Darkwood themes
It's weekend. Means, I have more free time to talk but who in the world will spend their weekend with talking? haha. Instead, I spend my time customizing my Ubuntu. It's been a few weeks since the last time I booted into it. I installed a new themes and it looks pretty cool. You can get it from here. I'm using the latest distribution of Ubuntu(Feisty Fawn) and the themes works fine and It doesn't slow down my PC performance.

A good way to make an offline packages for your Ubuntu!
This tool is very graphical and that make it easier to use for a beginner Ubuntu user like me. hehe.. To use this tool, you may need an empty CD or DVD but not really neccesery because APTonCD can also backup your installed packages into an iso images. Go to http://aptoncd.sourceforge.net/ and download the latest release of this tool if you want to have a try.

Installing APTonCD in Ubuntu 6.06 dapper
I discovered an error when I tried to install APTonCD for the first time in Ubuntu Dapper. Something like "Dependency is not satisfied : python support" appeared. And when I try to install from the terminal, I got this result
kevin@linuxbox:~/Desktop$ sudo dpkg -i aptoncd_0.1-1_all.deb --force-all
Selecting previously deselected package aptoncd.
(Reading database ... 74701 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking aptoncd (from aptoncd_0.1-1_all.deb) ...
dpkg: error processing --force-all (--install):
cannot access archive: No such file or directory
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of aptoncd:
aptoncd depends on python-support (>= 0.2); however:
Package python-support is not installed.
dpkg: error processing aptoncd (--install):
dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Errors were encountered while processing:
--force-all
aptoncd
If you faced the same error as mine, try installing the python-support_0.5.6_all.deb packages from here before reinstalling the APTonCD. It works fine for me, it should works for you too.

Slackware 12!
After experiencing several times of failed installation and hard moments, I finally be able to online and blogging with my Slackware 12. It was the first Slackware I ever installed in my PC. Thanks to my friend for blogging about it because I became inspired after I read his Slackware review. :D Then I started to get my self a copy of Slackware 12. It took about 4 days to completing the 3.6GB of download via torrent. Yes, I know my internet connection is slow as I am a Streamshit subscriber. Then I burned the dvd image to my dvd-rw replacing the existing UbuntuStudio i previously burned.
The newbie installation journey begin right after I boot the dvd. An echo prompted out and ask me to choose huge*** or something. I forgot the file name but as I am using x86 machine, so I just hit enter. Then I cfdisk to manage my partitions. After reserving two partitions for linux-swap and extended type of partitions, I proceeded the installation. bla bla bla bla.. and tadaa... The installation done. I installed Lilo as an OS manager so I be able choose whether to use Windows or Linux system. I rebooted up and aRgghh! No operating system! What's going on? After I reinstalled the Slackware and read the instruction carefully. I spotted my mistake that I did not manage my fstab before the I run the installation. I forgot to add all my systems and disc drives into it the fstab list and that make sense why Lilo cannot detect any operating systems at my first installation. And this time, Lilo shown up and the two operating systems listed on my monitor. I have booted the Linux and login as a root and start the x window and tadaaa!!! Yess! I made it! I can see the cool KDE blue mode interface on my moniter hehehe. But now its not cool anymore as I don't really like the blue color. I opened firefox but no connection detected. I take a while and play around with the network setting and configured my network manually and reopened my browser and Tadaa!! I'm connected to the internet! And now my graphic card driver. I go to Nvidia official site and download the related driver. I read some instruction from a forum and guest what found? The installation was easier for Slackware 12 because no extra configuration needed like I always managed to do for Ubuntu distribution. What else? Yes the sound system. I try to play the mp3 from my optical drive with amarok. The visualization seems to play but I couldn't hear any sounds out from my headphone. I check the alsamixer setting to find out if the volume is set to mute and yes it is. I have unchecked all the muted setting and tadaaa again!!! The mp3 is streaming fine. One more thing, the mouse wheel! I make some changes to the xorg.conf and rewrite the file. I reboot the system and again I try to scroll up and down in the browser to make sure it work properly and tadaaa... All works perfectly.. And now here I am writting on this post. Huh! what a long journey. But I feel satisfied that i made Slackware 12 working on my PC.

Adobe Photoshop CS3

The cool thing about Fireworks is that it has been integrated with other tools such as Macromedia Dreamweaver & Flash and that make things
more easier to work with all of the software together. If you are still using the built in graphic editing software such as Paint and wanna have a try on Photoshop, you can download the free trial on Adobe official site at www.adobe.com. Or otherwise, you can find the keygen somewhere around haha!. Have fun with it and create your own imagination.
Waste of time
Kind of busy in the past few days. Trying so hard to find a way to build my own home web server, and drink 5 gallons of coffee every night and let my computer online for almost a week and sweating a lot because of the heat from the PC turned my room into a microwave oven. But in the end, it doesn’t work at all for both Ubuntu Server and Windows Server 2003 in my virtual server. It was frustrating and I gave up. BTW, I'm learning PHP right now instead of wasting my time trying those though things. PHP is fun and easy to understand compare to other programming languages. hopefully I can build my own dynamic site with PHP and MYSQL later in the future. hehe..

Flickr

I've just opened a flickr account and uploaded some photos that I took at Lokawi beach last Sunday. I went there with my family. Although, my father did not came along with us and he enjoy his drinks and songs with my uncle at home. It was an opportunity for my brother and I to capture some of the wonderful views even though the beach seems to be polluted. An endangered animal with wounds on its body caught my eyes. I wonder who did it. But I know it was done by uncivilized kind of people. Here's an image taken by my brother.

Port Forwarding DSL-308ER
1. Firstly, open up your browser and go to http://192.168.1.1. You will then log in with Login:admin and Password:admin. Go to Configuration>>Security and you will see something just like screenshot below. Click the Advanced NAT Configuration under the Security Interface.
2. Enter down your internal IP address. Don't know what your Internal IP address is? You can find your Internal IP by going to Start>>Run on your pc and type cmd and open up the command prompt windows. Then type ipconfig and hit enter and you'll see your IP.
Select tcp for the type of transport. Enter your Internal and External port range and leave the global Ip as 0.0.0.0. Better ports are above 10000. Here, I am using port 40208.
3. You will add another reserved mapping for udp in the same way as above.
You should see something like below after those configurations.
5. You already done with modem configuration. Now you have to set the listening port in Utorrent with the port you have chosen on your modem configuration. Go to Options>>Preferences>>Connection and enter the port then click apply. I'm using port 40208 as you can see below.
6. You can check whether your port has forwarded or not. In Utorrent, go to Options>>Speed Guide and click on the test button.
Turn off your firewall if you still experienced slow downloading speed. Support torrent! Drop me a comment if this is helpful to you.

TMnet Service Interuption
TM Net Sdn Bhd (TM Net) would like to announce that its Internet services, which are experiencing some degradation in performance due to the international link outage caused by the earthquake off Taiwan on December 26th, 2006, will be fully restored by January 20th, 2006.
Restoration work is well mitigated with more than 50% of its services restored to-date. We are pleased to inform customers that TM Net is on track to recover approximately 80 per cent bandwidth capacity for Internet traffic to U.S. by January 12, 2007.
Restoration and / or rerouting of data services is being achieved either by purchasing additional bandwidth from international providers, or capacity swapping with other corresponding carriers.
We wish to assure you that TM Net is doing all that is possible to fully restore our services as soon as possible.
Streamyx announcement is always a bad news!
